JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING

say good-bye to frizzy hair and unwanted curls

The process is safe for most hair; improves its feel, softness, and shine; and leaves it completely manageable.

Permanent Japanese Hair Straightening
Many people get JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING to rid themselves of curls. This process involves chemicals that can also be used to soften or "relax" wavy hair as well as to completely eliminate it.
JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING is basically a three-step hair system designed to permanently straighten naturally wavy, frizzy and curly hair. This process makes your hair silky soft & incredibly shiny.

THE JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING SYSTEM First, your hair is washed and conditioned, then treated with Retexturizer. The Japanese Retexturizer softens the curl by relieving the internal stresses of your tresses, or "relaxing" your hair.

Next, the cosmetologist thermally reconstructs your hair into a new straight shape by pressing it with a hot ceramic flat iron maintained at 170 to 230 degrees Celsius. Finally, the hair is treated with Neutralizer. This permanently locks it into a "pin-straight" configuration.

JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING is a permanent hair straightening process -- meaning that your hair will stay straight until it is either cut off or permed.

Any new hair growth will of course be curly, if that is your natural hair state. A hair straightening retouch is needed to keep your new growth silky straight. How long you go between initial Japanese Thermal Hair Straightening & retouch varies with individuals, depending on how fast your hair grows and how curly the new growth is. Some people feel comfortable using a Farouk Chi Flat Iron, or another brand of ceramic flat iron for curly hair, while others, unsatisfied with this process, turn to a professional for hair straightening help.

JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING Q & A

WHY DOES THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING COST SO MUCH? Thermal relaxing/reconditioning is very time consuming. The process takes from three to five hours. During that time your thermal specialist's day will be totally consumed with processing your hair.  But, the results last for months and ultimately save you many hours of blow-dry styling. Everyone that gets one thinks they are a great investment.

HOW LONG DOES JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING TAKE? Usually 4 to 6 hours, but the actual time varies, depending on hair length, as well as texture and the degree of curliness.

CAN JAPANESE RETEXTURIZER BE USED ON COLOR TREATED HAIR? Yes.

CAN JAPANESE RECONDITIONING HAIR STRAIGHTENER BE APPLIED ON PERMED HAIR?

Yes. Only if the hair is in good condition. If there is any doubt, your hair stylist will perform a complete HAIR STRAND TEST.

WILL JAPANESE THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING CHANGE MY HAIRCOLOR? Yes. Naturally colored hair may be a shade to two shades lighter afterwards, and color treated hair will fade. If your hair is to be colored again, you must wait 7-10 days after the Japanese Hair Straightening procedure.

CAN YOU GET HAIR COLOR THE SAME DAY YOU GET A JAPANESE HAIR STRAIGHTENING?
No. You must wait at least 10 days after your Japanese Hair Straightening.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM HAIR LENGTH REQUIRED FOR JAPANESE HAIR STRAIGHTENING? The minimum hair length is approximately four inches. For shorter hair, it would be difficult to use a hot flat iron efficiently, due to the flat iron's width.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY HAIR FOR A THERMAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING TREATMENT? Before you come in for a thermal hair straightening treatment, you should use a deep treatment conditioner several times to put moisture and protein into the hair.  We only recommend products that we sell in our Salon.  Ask your STYLES' designer for more information on preparation during your initial consultation.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT AFTER A JAPANESE HAIR STRAIGHTENING TO USE SHAMPOO OR HAIR CONDITIONER? You should wait at least 72 hours before you shampoo of use conditioner on your hair. Also, don't use rubber bands, hair clips, or crimp the hair in any way for the same 72-hour period.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CARE FOR MY HAIR AFTER A JAPANESE HAIR STRAIGHTENING? You'll need to keep your hair dry for seventy-two hours in order to let the restructured bonds thoroughly "harden." Also, it is best to keep your hair as straight as possible during this time to avoid any kinks, so you should avoid tying your hair back with rubber bands or clips or tucking it behind your ears. After seventy-two hours, you can shampoo, dry, and style your hair as you would normally. Be sure to use the shampoo and conditioner your Styles' designer recommends.

WHAT IS THE COST OF FOLLOW-UP TREATMENTS? Retouching takes the same amount of time as the original process (three to five hours) and requires the same amount of product.  It also takes even more skill to
protect the previously relaxed hair.  The cost of retouching is therefore the same as the initial treatment.
